Chico, Butte County
Bidwell Park begins at the edge of downtown Chico and follows Big Chico Creek for miles into the foothills. Annie Bidwell gave the first land to the city in 1905, and at about 3,700 acres it is one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Its oak woods stood in for Sherwood Forest in the 1938 film The Adventures of Robin Hood.
